States can either \u2018support\u2019 (accept) or \u2018note\u2019 UPR recommendations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Azerbaijan<\/strong> had already supported recommendations to enact prohibition of corporal punishment; it supported a further two recommendations to enact the Draft Law on Protection of Children Against All Forms of Corporal Punishment. The draft Law has been in discussions since 2011.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Djibouti<\/strong> and the <strong>Russian Federation<\/strong> supported recommendations on the prohibition and elimination of corporal punishment of children.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tuvalu <\/strong>noted several recommendations on the prohibition of all corporal punishment, stating that it admitted \u201cto its lack of capacity and financial resources to implement the obligations in those recommendations\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Burkina Faso<\/strong> noted without comments a recommendation to explicitly prohibit corporal punishment in all settings, having earlier in the year accepted a more general recommendation to protect children from corporal punishment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cameroon<\/strong>, <strong>Canada<\/strong> and <strong>Cuba<\/strong> noted recommendations to prohibit all corporal punishment, with both the Governments of Cameroon and Canada declaring that existing legislation protected children from assault and abuse. Bill S-206 is currently being discussed in the Canadian Senate to repeal the defence and prohibit all corporal punishment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cabo Verde<\/strong> supported recommendations to take measures to implement the 2013 ban and end corporal punishment of children in all settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For further details, see the Global Initiative\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/states-receive-recommendations-to-prohibit-at-uprs-30th-session\/\">news item on the\u00a0initial outcomes<\/a>\u00a0of the 30<sup>th<\/sup> session of the Universal Periodic Review.
