{"id":11183,"date":"2018-11-20T12:02:19","date_gmt":"2018-11-20T12:02:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/?p=11183"},"modified":"2018-11-20T12:02:19","modified_gmt":"2018-11-20T12:02:19","slug":"human-rights-committee-issues-recommendation-on-corporal-punishment-at-latest-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/human-rights-committee-issues-recommendation-on-corporal-punishment-at-latest-session\/","title":{"rendered":"Human Rights Committee issues recommendation on corporal punishment at latest session"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Human Rights Committee held its 124<sup>th<\/sup> session in October\/November 2018 and issued recommendations on corporal punishment of children:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To\u00a0<strong>Belize<\/strong>, the Committee recommended that the Government take all measures necessary to put an end to corporal punishment in all settings, including through the repeal of the provisions of the Criminal Code which permit the use of corporal punishment, and conduct awareness raising campaigns about the harmful effects of corporal punishment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Committee expressed concern to <strong>Sudan<\/strong> that, despite previous recommendations, flogging and amputation is still provided for as a sentence for a crime, including for minors.
