The role is available from October 2019 to March 2020 (negotiable) based in our London office. color: #1e3250;\"><strong>ROLE 1: Advocacy Intern<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Duration: 1<sup>st<\/sup> Oct 2019 \u2013 31<sup>st<\/sup> March 2020<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Hours: 3 days\/21 hours per week<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Salary: \u00a0\u00a310.55 per hour (London Living Wage)<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Location: Oval, London (we operate a flexible working office, so some home working is available)<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Tasks:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Monitor the issue of corporal punishment globally e.g. legal and policy research, UN and similar reports, news stories, trends and evidence<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Contribute to keeping GI\u2019s knowledge hub up to date, in particular the individual country reports<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Share information within the team and with our partners worldwide<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Contribute to the implementation of GI\u2019s communications strategy through website and database maintenance and managing multiple social media accounts<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Produce communications (e.g. letters and emails) on law reform to send to governments and civil society to encourage prohibition of corporal punishment<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Skills: <\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Fluency in English and excellent writing skills<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Experience of using WordPress would be a distinct advantage<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Experience of using social media, and other communications tools<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Ability to analyse and understand complex information; familiarity with legal information would be an advantage<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Fluency and good writing skills in another language would be an advantage, particularly Spanish or Arabic<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Commitment to GI\u2019s values including child rights, safeguarding and integrity is essential<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #1e3250;\"><strong>ROLE 2: Volunteer Intern<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Duration: flexible, but we ask you to commit to working with us for a minimum of 3 months<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Unpaid: we can pay reasonable travel expenses for travel within London<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Tasks:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Contribution to a number of GI\u2019s projects:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Researching and monitoring trends, stories and research<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Summarising information and evidence about the issue, prevalence data and country case studies<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Translating our materials or checking translations<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Contributing to work on specific countries, e.g. researching legislation, producing communications (e.g. letters and emails) on law reform to send to governments and civil society to encourage prohibition of corporal punishment<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Helping develop material for our website<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Skills: <\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Fluency in English and excellent writing skills<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Ability to analyse and understand complex information;
