As well as violating children\u2019s rights, overwhelming evidence shows that the use of corporal punishment in schools can impede learning and contribute to school drop-out. A school culture that ensures a safe, respectful environment for students and teaching staff and promotes learning benefits students, teachers and the wider community and is shown to rely less on violence as a means to discipline or educate.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">This new briefing tracks progress prohibiting and eliminating corporal punishment in schools worldwide.
