States can either \u2018support\u2019 (accept) or \u2018note\u2019 UPR recommendations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>DPR Korea<\/strong>, <strong>DR Congo<\/strong>, <strong>Equatorial Guinea<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Qatar<\/strong>\u00a0supported recommendations to prohibit all corporal punishment of children.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bhutan<\/strong> noted pending recommendations on the prohibition of all corporal punishment, stating it did \u201cnot feel the need to pursue legislative reforms or enactment of new legislation\u201d.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dominica<\/strong>\u00a0noted several recommendations to prohibit all corporal punishment of children.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brunei Darussalam<\/strong> \u2018did not accept\u2019 several recommendations made to prohibit judicial corporal punishment of children, stating \u201ccorporal punishments in the [Sharia Penal Code] will not be carried out arbitrarily and are intended to protect the society against serious crimes through the mechanism of deterrence, ensuring justice for the victims and their family and generally to preserve peace, morality and decency of the public\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Despite the ongoing legality of corporal punishment in <strong>C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire<\/strong> and <strong>Ethiopia<\/strong>, no recommendations on the issue were made to them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Albania<\/strong> and <strong>Costa Rica<\/strong>\u00a0supported recommendations to implement their existing bans effectively.
