shortcode-container\" >\n\t<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Most of the states under review at the 34<sup>th<\/sup> session of the Universal Periodic Review, which took place in November 2019, received recommendations on corporal punishment:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Fiji<\/strong>, <strong>Gambia<\/strong> and <strong>Madagascar<\/strong> all supported recommendations to prohibit corporal punishment of children.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Angola<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Egypt<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Iran<\/strong>, <strong>Iraq<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Kazakhstan<\/strong>\u00a0all received recommendations to prohibit corporal punishment in all settings and deferred their responses to March 2020.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Slovenia<\/strong>, which enacted a ban in 2016, deferring responding to a recommendation to raise awareness of the harmful effects of corporal punishment and the existence of alternative non-violent forms of discipline.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>El Salvador<\/strong> and <strong>Italy<\/strong> did not receive specific recommendations on corporal punishment, despite not having enacted a ban.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Bolivia and San Marino, which both achieved prohibition in 2014, also did not receive recommendations on corporal
