shortcode-container\" >\n\t<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Most of the states under review at the 35<sup>th<\/sup> session of the Universal Periodic Review, which took place in January 2020, received recommendations on corporal punishment:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Grenada<\/strong>, <strong>Guinea<\/strong>, <strong>Guyana<\/strong>, <strong>Kiribati<\/strong>, <strong>Kyrgyzstan<\/strong>, <strong>Lao<\/strong> <strong>PDR<\/strong> and <strong>Turkey<\/strong> all received recommendations to prohibit corporal punishment and deferred their responses to June 2020.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Guinea-Bissau<\/strong> received a recommendation to eradicate corporal punishment in schools \u2013 it will respond by June 2020.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Kenya<\/strong>, which enacted a ban in 2010, supported a recommendation to prohibit corporal punishment in schools and public institutions<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Armenia<\/strong>, <strong>Kuwait<\/strong> and <strong>Lesotho<\/strong> did not receive specific recommendations on corporal punishment, despite not having enacted a ban.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Spain and Sweden, which achieved prohibition respectively in 2007 and 1979, also did not
