States can either accept or \u2018note\u2019 UPR recommendations:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Lebanon<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mauritania, Micronesia, Nauru <\/strong>and<strong> St Lucia <\/strong>accepted recommendations to prohibit corporal punishment of children. We will be following up with them to confirm their intentions to introduce prohibiting legislation.<\/li><li><strong>Sao Tome and Principe<\/strong> and<strong> St Kitts and Nevis <\/strong>noted (rejected) recommendations to prohibit in all settings. \u00a0Sao Tome and Principe stating that \u201cNowhere in the legal system of Sao Tome and Principe is there any law that allows for the corporal punishment of children... At this stage, there is no justification for accepting this recommendation.\u201d<\/li><li><strong>Rwanda <\/strong>did not respond to a recommendation to prohibit corporal punishment in all settings.<\/li><li>Despite the ongoing legality of corporal punishment in\u00a0<strong>Australia<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Oman<\/strong>, no recommendations on the issue were made to them.
