The Committee also adopted\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/news\/04\/2018\/crpd-recommends-prohibition-in-new-general-comment.html\">General Comment No. 6 on \u201cEquality and non-discrimination\u201d<\/a>\u00a0which reiterated states\u2019 obligation to prohibit corporal punishment in all settings.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To\u00a0<strong>Haiti<\/strong>, the Committee expressed concern that children with disabilities were subjected to corporal punishment and recommended its explicit prohibition in all settings.<\/li>\n<li>In its concluding observations on\u00a0<strong>Oman<\/strong>\u2019s initial report, the Committee twice raised the issue of corporal punishment and recommended the amendment of the Child Act of 2014 to explicitly prohibit corporal punishment of children in all settings.<\/li>\n<li>The Committee recommended to\u00a0<strong>Seychelles<\/strong>\u00a0the expedition of the review of the Children Act to include a ban on corporal punishment in all settings.<\/li>\n<li>To\u00a0<strong>Sudan<\/strong>, the Committee expressed concern at the lack of measures taken to criminalise all forms of violence including corporal punishment and recommended prohibition in all settings, including by amending the Children\u2019s Act of 2010 and the Criminal Code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, the Committee recommended prohibition to\u00a0<strong>Slovenia<\/strong>, despite the enactment of prohibiting legislation in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For further details, see the Global Initiative\u2019s individual country reports for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/progress\/country-reports\/haiti.html\">Haiti<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/progress\/country-reports\/oman.html\">Oman<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/progress\/country-reports\/seychelles.html\">Seychelles<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/progress\/country-reports\/slovenia.html\">Slovenia<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/progress\/country-reports\/sudan.html\">Sudan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For further information on the obligation to prohibit corporal punishment under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to see the Committee\u2019s recommendations in full, see the Global Initiative&#8217;s page on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/endcorporalpunishment.org\/prohibiting-corporal-punishment\/hrlaw\/crpd\/\">Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At its 19th\u00a0session in February-March 2018, the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities issued recommendations on corporal punishment to the most of the states reviewed.
